Summary

When you become an entrepreneur, words matter. A lot of times it's just you, so you need to be your biggest cheerleader instead of your biggest critic. Lately, I've heard several of my coaching clients say, "I'm drowning, I'm on the struggle bus, I'm so far behind, etc". It grieves my heart because the bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. That's why it's much easier for you to remember the negative things that people have said instead of the positive. But the words we speak over ourselves matter even more than the words other people say about us. If you find yourself speaking negative self-talk, focus on where you want to go and make sure your words align.

Well, hey my friends, welcome back to the podcast. If you're watching me on YouTube right now, you're watching me try to navigate my chair around my dog.

0:36.0

Lola is always at my feet under my desk. Anybody else have a dog that just is has to be right next to them all the time. It is both the most precious thing on the planet, but also, you know, when I'm trying to just move my chair.

0:53.0

I'm now like working around the dog did not disturb her. Who knew who knew because I have never been a pet person, but gosh, I love these gold noodles.

1:02.0

Hey, listen, I have a podcast that's that's really on my heart today about some things that I want you to make sure you are paying attention to in terms of your words.

1:14.0

Things that I want you to make sure you're not saying if you're an entrepreneur.

1:20.0

Things that I'm wanting you to pay real close attention to how you speak to yourself about yourself, because how you speak to yourself about yourself totally matters.

1:32.0

Okay, so here's the context. So this last week we have launched a mastermind for the first time in two and a half years. I've launched a mastermind for women in particular who are in the online space who are trying to go their business to the next level.

1:48.0

And I was talking to some of our clients about said mastermind this week and it was interesting that several of the women that I was hoping that I would see in the mastermind with me have come back with some words that I wanted to share with you not to shame them.

2:10.0

But to encourage you that if you're using some of the same terminology about yourself that you got to stop because each one of these women, by the way, I've coached on why it's so important to stop using this language.

2:25.0

Okay, so we just recently finished my better way program. It's an eight week course teaching you eight different ways of making money in the online space.

2:33.0

It's been fabulous. We had hundreds of women who took this program. We've had this program before. It's great. So these women are a perfect fit to move up to the mastermind with me, which is a six month commitment, which is to help them make sure they're implementing everything they just learned. It's, you know, extra handholding. It's one on one conversations with me and my team, etc.

2:54.0

By the way, if that's something you are interested in, you can certainly send me a DM on Instagram. But that's not the point. The point is, I went to a handful of the women who I was surprised that have not signed up for the mastermind and I wrote down literally a list of some of the words that a couple of the women used about where they currently are in business. Okay.

3:16.0

And I want you to pay close attention to if these are words that you have found yourself are finding yourself say about your own business. Okay. So let me give you some examples.

3:30.0

Jennifer, I'm so far behind.

3:33.0

I'm literally drowning in work. I'm a hamster on a wheel. I'm totally on the struggle bus. I feel frantic.

3:42.0

I'm totally lost. I can't make any decisions. I feel like I just am spiraling. I'm going around in circles. These are all literally things that I heard in the last 24 hours. I'm so far behind.

3:59.0

By the way, I've done a whole podcast on that. I'll put that I'll put that podcast in the show notes because I'm so behind is such a lie because I'm so behind basically insinuates that this is a contest.

4:12.0

And then we're racing with another. You're not behind. You're exactly where you're supposed to be.
