Just when we thought standardized tests were a thing of the past, Yale decided to bring them back.

The university said they're reinstating the requirement for applicants to submit standardized

test scores. Yale originally took a four-year hiatus during the pandemic,

meeting applicants didn't need to take the SATs or ACTs. Yale's admissions dean said their

team analyzed data from the past few years and found that the test scores gave admissions a better

sense of whether students would actually be able to handle the school's

tough academic workload or not. Critics of standardized testing like SATs and ACTs want schools

to permanently drop the requirement because they believe the tests mostly benefit students

with access to expensive prep courses.
