Today was only the beginning of the atmospheric river, and the National Weather Service is warning people to be ready for major flooding throughout Western Washington.

Meteorologist Dustin Guy at the Weather Service says this atmospheric river is expected to dump

several inches of rain on the lowlands and up to 10 inches on the mountains by week's end.

And then in addition to the river flooding, we'll be looking at urban and small stream of flooding as well

just because of the heavy rainfall. It's going to take some time for all that water to drain off as well. So we'll be looking

at probably some flooding as well around the metro area over the next couple, three days.

The Skycomish River near Goldbar could rise by nine feet overnight. The Snoqualmie River and the Skagit River could reach major flood stage by tomorrow.
