In the aftermath of the attempted assassination on former President Trump,

Washingtonians still have questions about how a shooter was able to get so close.

Dave Reichert is running for governor as a Republican.

He faced violent threats when he was in Congress and as King County Sheriff.

I'm sure that the Secret Service has been recognized that they absolutely obviously left a gap,

allowed someone to get into a position to have a clear shot at President Trump.

That should have never happened.

Reikert says he does not have security and will not be getting any after the shooting.

Both major Democrats in the race condemned political violence in statements.

Washington Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell says there's no reason for political rhetoric to turn violent.

She spoke today in Seattle at an energy summit.

It's such a tragic day and people should be able to go to a political rally and express

their opinions and not lose their life.

Even though she disagrees with Trump's policies, Cantwell says all candidates should be safe
