Really looking forward today to talking to you about the helmet of salvation and the sword

of the spirit. I have this vivid memory in my mind and I can't remember if it was like Awana

or youth group or Sunday school, but I just remember as a kid, one of my teachers,

because I can picture the wall, teaching through the armor of God, and there was a kind

of a big, not, not, it wasn't flannel graph, although I am old enough to remember flannel graph, but it was just the teacher had made this kind of cutout of a Roman soldier and put it against the wall and explained each part of the armor by putting it up against the wall.

So Paul saw the real thing. I saw a cardboard cut out, but I think we're learning nonetheless what the armor of God is.

Yesterday, we talked all about the shield of faith and how important it is for us not just to have truth.

Having truth is a passive thing, but to activate that truth,

to rely upon it, to act in faith. Now, faith is not works, but faith properly, a true faith,

a dynamic faith, will always show up in works. Show me thy faith without my, without thy works, and I will show

thee my faith by my works, is the argument of James chapter number two. So here we are in verse

number 17. So James, I'm stuck in James now, Ephesians, chapter number six, and verse number 17.

And let's talk about these last two elements of the armor of God.

First of all, and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. So every soldier, a soldier's

armor would be incomplete, obviously, without the helmet. I mean, how important is a helmet?
