Hey guys, we all face tests in our life that indicate to us things about us that we might not

0:10.0

readily know about us. So tests are good because they reveal things to us about us. We're going to

0:18.2

talk about one of the greatest tests in all the Bible on today's

0:22.8

podcast. Listen in. Welcome to Everyday Truth with Kurt Skelie. We believe the Bible is true

0:29.4

and relevant to everyone, everywhere, every day. If today's conversation is a help to you,

0:37.0

take a moment to leave a review or share it with a

0:39.3

friend. Thanks for listening. Now, let's join Kurt for today's episode. Hey, friends, welcome back.

We're in Genesis 22 today talking about our friend Abraham, a man of great faith, and nowhere

0:53.4

in all of the story of Abraham is his faith more tested

0:58.7

than in this chapter. Very famous chapter, and I don't want to belabor it. So let's jump right in

1:05.9

Genesis 22 in verse 1. And it came to pass after these things. So we talked a bit about Abraham

1:14.1

sojourning in the land of the Philistines. And now we're going to fast forward. God is going to

1:20.8

introduce a different episode. Isaac is a good deal older in this chapter. Don't know exactly

1:27.3

how old he was, but we know in the next chapter that Sarah dies at

1:32.6

127 years of age.

1:35.1

And we know that she had Isaac at age 90.

1:39.7

So Isaac is certainly younger than 37, but old enough to be able to travel with his dad and carry the

1:48.2

wood up the hill. And it's hard to pinpoint the exact age, but probably somewhere late teens,

1:56.4

early 20s would be my best guess. Wouldn't be dogmatic about that, but that would be my best guess.

2:03.0

And I say that because it really adds a little bit of spice to the story when you read about

2:09.0

this. So it came to pass after these things that God did tempt Abraham. Sometimes people have

2:16.5

an issue with that. I thought God doesn't tempt people.
