Hello, friends, and welcome back to today's episode of Everyday Truth. We're in Genesis Chapter 21, and we're all the way down in verse number 22. So Abraham and Sarah have had this

miraculous son, Isaac, whose name means laughter. He has been born, he's been circumcised, he's been

weaned, and at the weaning feast, remember, Sarah just becomes so incensed with Hagar and

Ishmael, because Ishmael is mocking Isaac, and this is not going to work. Cast out the Bond woman and her son.

And that's a difficult decision for Abraham, but God confirms it, says, this must needs be.

I will bless, I will care for, I will take care of Heagar and Ishmael, but they must go. And we talked about how all of that

was a metaphor of the freedom that we have in Christ, of the purpose of the law, and how that the

law can never do. Works can never accomplish, what only grace can do. And I don't know that I did the best job explaining

that last episode, but that's the teaching here in Genesis 21 and Galatians 4. But today we're in

verse 22, a different episode altogether where the Bible says it came to pass at that time that Abimelech in Ficol,

I'm sure I'm butchering the pronunciation of that name, P-H-I-C-H-O-L, the chief captain of his host.

So Abimelech and kind of the general of the army in today's language,

spake unto Abraham saying, God is with thee and all that thou doest. Interesting that now the

local leaders, we've already talked about Abimelech, but it's interesting that they're recognizing

the clout of Abraham. They're recognizing that this
