0:07.8	I'm Albert Moeller and this is the briefing, a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview.
0:14.4	We have known for a long time that the Middle East is one of the most volatile places on planet
0:19.0	Earth, if not the most volatile, and frankly it has been for a matter of decades now. We're not just
0:25.0	talking about a bilateral conflict or talking about a mass of conflicts a
0:29.9	network of conflicts and some of them go back more than a millennium. And we are talking right now of course
0:36.7	because Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, attacked Israel over the weekend with a massive barrage of cruise missiles, mostly
0:44.8	explosive-laden drones and also some ballistic missiles. Now the good news is this
0:49.8	at the end of the day this massive barrage and that's the only thing you can say a massive
0:55.0	attack upon Israel was largely ineffectual.
0:58.3	There was one little girl tragically who was seriously injured and there was at least some injury to a couple of
1:03.7	Israeli military bases. The big news was the effectiveness of Israel's famed
1:09.1	Iron Dome system of national defense against cruise missiles and drones and ballistic missiles.
1:15.0	But there's another big story and that is that it took not only Israel's defensive
1:20.0	mechanisms and technology here, it took a massive coordination of other nations
1:24.6	including the United States. At this point it appears that Jordan was rather
1:28.6	directly involved in helping to defend Israel. It also appears at this point that other major Arab nations,
1:35.6	especially in the Gulf region, were involved in providing at least logistical support.
1:40.8	Now you try to unpack this, it's very very complicated but what's uncomplicated is the fact that
1:45.4	Israel's survival in this case has virtually everything to do with two things
1:49.3	number one its own defensive capabilities its famed Iron Dome missile defense, along with what's now
1:55.8	very clear to be effective anti-invasion undertakings on the part of the Israeli Defense Forces, and in particular Israel's Air Force.
