We're in a brand new chapter today, Matthew chapter 17. So we are making some progress

here in the book of Matthew. And I'm excited to talk about

this episode today because what happens in Matthew 17, at least at the first part of this chapter,

is a direct fulfillment of an incredible promise that Jesus made at the end of last chapter. So if you'll go back to the

last episode in your mind and remember that Jesus had promised that there were some among them

that would not taste of death until they saw the son of man coming in his glory. They saw him in his glorified persona.

What a statement. What a promise. And they didn't actually know what that was, who those some were

or when that would happen. But in short order, that promise was fulfilled. And we find that fulfillment in the very

next chapter. So Matthew chapter 17, look at verse number one, where it says, after six days,

Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John, his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart.

So remember, Jesus is up in Cessaria Philippi, these in Matthew 16.

So people have asked, you what would that high mountain have been? We don't know for sure.

The, in the Catholic faith, they teach that it was the Mount of Transfiguration is Mount

Tabor, which is down in the lower Galilee, not far from Nazareth. I don't think so. I mean,

that doesn't make sense that Jesus would go all the way

...
