Hey, friends, welcome back. We are sitting here in the studio in Virginia, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to be more accurate. We're in Matthew chapter number 16, and we're talking about this season in Jesus

ministry of clarification, a season where the disciples have correctly identified him. He is the

Messiah. They know that. But the problem is they have an idea about who Messiah is

in their thinking. Messiah is going to be the one that rules and reigns. Messiah is going to be the

one that throws off Roman oppression and sets up his capital. And all of that is true. I mean,

Jesus will rule and reign. He will set up his kingdom in Jerusalem. And we look forward to that day.

It's part of the second coming of Christ. What they missed was the mission of Messiah to save the world. They missed the

messianic Psalms. We talked a bit about this last episode, Psalm 22, Psalm 69, Isaiah 53, most

notably. So Jesus needs to tell them, hey guys, don't publish what you know about me yet,

the fact that I'm Messiah. But what I want you to do is I want you to receive this instruction

from me. I want to clarify some of the things I'm going to do. And in that clarification, he talked about the fact that he would

die and he would suffer. And we know that Peter just did not want to hear that. And remember,

get thee behind me, Satan. We talked all about this. But here in verse number 24, through the end of the chapter, Jesus gives not only a

clarification about his ministry, but he gives a clarification about our ministry, because we are

the followers of Jesus. And watch how he says that in verse 24. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me.
