I'm Hannah Jewell. It's Monday, April 14th. Let's get you caught up with

today's seven stories. Number one. President Donald Trump's tariffs are causing chaos for

U.S. manufacturers. It's been 12 days since the president announced he would enact sweeping tariffs

on imports from virtually the entire world. Since then, the global economy has been on a

roller coaster ride, and some of the passengers getting the most queasy on that ride are U.S. manufacturers.

Trump has said that tariffs will usher in a new golden age for American manufacturing, but his shifting policies are making it tougher for

companies to make and sell goods. Their costs are rising and demand is slowing. Customers in the

U.S. and abroad have been spooked by shifting policies

and are slamming the brakes on spending. The fallout has been most pronounced for companies that

buy or sell from China, which last week got hit with a 145 percent tariff. Commerce Secretary

Howard Lutnik defended the president's moves on ABC News yesterday.

We can't be the holden and rely upon foreign countries for fundamental things that we need.

We can't be relying on China for fundamental things that we need.

But speaking to the same program,

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren,

a Democrat, slammed the chaos.

Look, there is no tariff policy.

It's just all chaos and corruption.
