Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

0:20.0

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius X-XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much.

Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share, because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. All right. So since we have a lot to get into this morning, I want to jump right into our

0:55.4

segment, which really sets the tone for everything else that's going to follow. This segment is

1:00.1

called The Moment of Gratitude, for those of you who are new to the show. And it is a segment that we

1:05.0

created because after welcoming an entire audience of millions of people to participate in a thing we call Black Talklandia,

1:12.6

we realize that it's very heavy, the work of dissecting how our world's got to be in the condition in which it's in,

1:19.6

1:38.3

Well, then we realize that we got to do something more than just dive head first into the news. And then when you add to

1:45.9

all of that, the fact that our individual lives be life and child, we really do need to take just a few

1:51.4

minutes before we get into the busyness of the work to really set the tone so that we are

1:56.4

tapping into, intentionally tapping into something that's going to give us a sense of joy,

2:01.9

gratitude, and appreciation.

2:03.7

Now, having done this for nearly five years with you all on this show, because we are just

2:08.3

about five years old, and next year, February will be five years.

2:12.1

But having done this for that length of time, we have both lived and experienced and the

2:16.9

science has confirmed for us that

2:18.7

when you intentionally root yourself in a sense of joy, gratitude, and appreciation,

2:23.3

you cannot also be trapped by fear, loneliness, and depression. And that really matters

2:29.0

because making the world a better place is not the easiest of tasks and reminding ourselves of our own

2:34.7

individual power to make our individual lives better. Also, not a very easy task. And so the moment
