Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much.

Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. We also have a ritual on this show. Now, those of you who are new to the show,

0:56.5

you've heard me at the very beginning introduce you to this space called Black Talk Landia.

1:02.0

And the reason I do that is because it's letting people know we're dealing with some real stuff

1:05.8

1:29.3

with a bit of joy, gratitude, and appreciation.

1:32.0

And those emotions are not happenstance.

1:34.3

They're not chosen by random.

1:36.1

They're chosen because we know from lived experience and because the science confirms that when we are rooted in a sense of gratitude,

1:45.6

we cannot be trapped by fear, loneliness, and depression. When we are rooted in a sense of gratitude, we cannot be trapped by fear,

1:50.7

loneliness, and depression. When we are rooted in joy and appreciation, we have the ability to navigate the circumstances of our lives with a power that, quite frankly, is underrated

1:55.8

and underappreciated. So our ritual for engaging in this good feeling that I'm talking about is pretty simple.

2:02.5

It is so simple.

2:03.5

In fact, it goes a little something like this.

2:06.9

In just a moment, you're going to hear some music, and that music is going to be an invitation

2:11.7

to you.

2:12.8

And that invitation is going to say, you can join the rest of us because when we hear it, we're

2:16.5

going to collectively begin taking the slowest, the deepest to the most lung capacity expanding,
