| 0:00.0 | Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world. |
| 0:20.0 | I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much. Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. We do have a ritual on this show that I have basically violated because I went right |
| 0:55.2 | into some of the analysis about what was happening. But the ritual is called a moment of gratitude. |
| 1:00.6 | And this is something that we do. It's a special moment that we carve out of every show. |
| 1:05.1 | At the beginning of the show, before I start going on with analysis and taking calls and |
| 1:08.9 | introducing new topics and items of news, we have this segment called a moment of gratitude so that we can |
| 1:15.3 | intentionally tap into a sense of joy, gratitude, and appreciation. And we tap into those |
| 1:22.2 | emotions intentionally because what we have learned from lived experience and from the science that examines our emotions |
| 1:30.5 | and our mental health and our well-being and our biophysical makeup throughout a whole host of emotions, |
| 1:36.1 | what we have learned is that when we are rooted in gratitude, we cannot also be trapped by fear. |
| 1:41.3 | When we are connected with joy and appreciation, we cannot be limited by |
| 1:45.4 | loneliness and depression. So because we're doing the work of Black Talklandia, every day, |
| 1:50.0 | we take just a few minutes to intentionally curate those emotions so that we can do the work |
| 1:55.3 | of approaching the challenges of this world and making it better with our gift skills and talents. |
| 2:01.8 | So the ritual is pretty simple. It is so simple. In fact, it goes a little something like this. In just a minute, |
| 2:08.6 | you're going to hear music. And when you hear that music, it's going to be an invitation to |
| 2:12.3 | you to join the rest of us, because when we hear it, we are going to collectively begin taking |
| 2:16.4 | the slowest, the deepest, most lung capacity expanding, joyful heart and vigor, rate, and troubled mind |
| 2:22.0 | cleansing, and weary soul uplifting the most amazingly juicy breath. As we kick off our most |
| 2:28.1 | important segment of every single day, it is time for our moment of gratitude. |
| 2:33.7 | Thank you. day, it is time get an opportunity to take this time and every day it matters. |
| 3:06.8 | Shout out to the team. Shout out to the team. |
