All right, let's see if you guys can guess the outcome.

A guy in New Zealand promised to take his girlfriend to the airport,

but he didn't show up and she missed the flight.

Oh my gosh. Wow. So she she sued him for the cost she had to incur for missing the flight. Do you think she won or lost in court?

I would say she won. One. One. One. I would say she won. One. So a woman in New Zealand just sued her boyfriend

of six years. Oh my God. For not driving her to the airport. He said he'd pick her up and take her but he didn't show.

So she missed her flight and a big concert that she had been planning to go to.

No. He also promised to say at her house and dog sit but didn't do that either.

So she took him to court and sued for damages including the cost of the dog sitter and

a shuttle to the airport.

A judge heard the case considered whether the agreement was legally binding

and decided not to award her any money.

Why?

The judge said that while partners, friends, and colleagues often make social

arrangements, they're not legally enforceable unless there's an act that

demonstrates an intention that the person will be bound by their promises.

So anybody can make a promise.

So because they break a promise,

doesn't mean you get to sue them and you're going to win.

If they had had it in writing.
