He's a master educator and a 2016 Appalachian Trail through Hiker.

So, Mo, could you start off by maybe giving everybody a little bit of the background on how

Leave No Trace went from an idea of just not littering into woods to now, it's an actual organization.

So, back in 1982, the Leave No Trace concept first became a program with the United States

Forest Service in Utah to combat and try to mitigate use issues in some of the Utah mountains

with increased visitation.

So the concept of Leave No Trace to try to mitigate some of that overused issues by developing,

they came up with the original six principles and then they added a seventh as time progressed.

And that program that came out in 1982 started to be successful.

They started to see positive impacts and mitigation to overuse issues around camping and hiking

and wildlife issues that they started to roll the program out more and more through the
