Summary

The Missouri Tigers answered the call to play well late and play complete football in a 38-21 win on the road at Kentucky and they did it after falling behind 14-0.  If this is what is a sign to come, Mizzou is about to have a special season.    Defenses are taking away K-State's downfield passing game with Will Howard by keeping the safeties deep, so Chris Kleiman put in his freshman Avery Johnson to run the ball... and Johnson scored 5 touchdowns to beat down Texas Tech.  So,  what's next?    KU's offense was rolling behind Jason Bean as they put 5 td's on the board just one drive into the second half.  Then they never scored again.  What in the world happened?    The Chiefs aren't the only team playing better defense in the NFL this year.  The Jets and Browns locked up the Eagles and Niners and pocketed wins over undefeated teams... and they did it using lame backup quarterbacks.     There's still no speaker of the House... but they plan to have a floor vote for Jim Jordan on Tuesday.  Wake me when its over.    And Arizona senate candidate Kari Lake has the best mic drop campaign tweet you've ever seen.  Also, Travis and Taylor play SNL and a toy from a movie sells at auction for over $3 million.  We'll tell you what it is.

You just couldn't have scripted a better performance by the Missouri Tigers on Saturday night

0:17.0

in their 3821 win over Kentucky than what we saw in a well-rounded performance

0:22.5

from a team that's having a terrific year and that one bad moment in the fourth quarter against

0:28.6

LSU.

0:29.8

Probably right now is keeping Missouri from being undefeated and ranked in the top 10.

We're going to start with college football in this episode of KKHI.

We'll get to the NFL in a big day Sunday where the chiefs didn't play, but we saw all kinds of good things for the Chiefs, even though they weren't playing. And of course, we'll catch you up on all the news and things that are going on around the Midwest and around the world. But to me, it all starts about the Missouri Tigers. This win for them on Saturday night,

1:00.3

it's not very often that I think back about my career and all the years that I've covered Missouri football and basketball, it is not very often that you look at a team like Missouri

1:05.5

this year and say, okay, there's pieces here. We really like what we see. You've got a quarterback.

1:09.4

You've got a receiving core, to be quite honest. I mean, Luther Burden in this game only had 15 yards. Kentucky did a nice

1:15.4

job of limiting burden. The other guys stepped up. We set a touchdown, Johnson touchdown.

1:20.4

Really, really nice performance all the way around by this receiving core. But it's been very rare that you get to a point in the season where you say,

1:30.9

okay, here's what's missing and here's what we have to see out of Missouri.

1:35.3

And I sort of challenged last week, like in my way, saying, look, to convince me, I got

1:41.9

to see this.

1:43.5

What I said I got to see is I got to see more well-rounded play, all three phases of the game,

1:48.8

and a strong finish.

1:50.8

Because I didn't feel like even though Missouri beat Kansas State, I didn't feel like they

1:54.4

really finished strong in that game.
