1. I love when a team makes the shift from a defensive minded head coach to an offensive minded head coach. The Minnesota Vikings in 2022 get a much needed change - and upgrade - from Zimmer to O'Connell

2. One thing that O'Connell has alreayd proven to bring over is an increased rate of three wide receiver sets which is going to mean more Jefferson - Thielen - Osborne on the field at the same time, which is exactly what this team needs.

3. Last season the Vikings passed a ton out of heavy personnel, but already in reports and interviews with Justin Jefferson and new HC O'Connell, the Vikings are going to be very different in 2022 and spread out opponents more with 3 WR sets. This will lead to better passing game success, and rushing.

4. In 2021, the Vikings finished 12th in offensive yards per play and 26th in defensive yards per play allowed. I think it is reasonable to think the Vikings improve on both marks with the coaching change. This is a bet on team.

5. I have bet Minnesota to win the NFC at 20/1, win the North at +240, Over 9.5 wins +105, Make playoffs at -118 and Jefferson OPY at 16/1.

Good morning, everybody. Today is Thursday, August 11th, and it is another team preview episode here on The Simple Handicap.

0:08.6

And if a rash madameh is listening to this morning's episode, I hope you're sitting down a rash, because here we go with five bets to kick off the Minnesota Vikings podcast.

0:19.0

Minnesota, to win the NFC, 20 to 1, to win the NFC North, plus

0:26.6

240, over 9 and a half wins, plus 105, make the playoffs minus 116.

0:44.4

And Justin Jefferson, offensive player of the year, 16 to 1.

0:51.3

The Minnesota Vikings in many ways are my Indianapolis Colts, but of the NFC.

0:55.3

If you listen to the Colts podcast, very similar rundown where I have Indianapolis, AFC, the win the south, the playoffs to get 10 wins or more, then I have a player

1:02.5

prop tied to Matt Ryan, exceeding his yardage, Vikings, conference division, win total over,

1:09.0

which is also the same bet as 10 wins or more making the playoffs

1:12.0

and then a player prop tied to justin jefferson offensive player of the year last season

1:18.0

minnesota finished 12th in yards per play on offense they were 26th in defensive yards per play allowed look at both of those numbers as a bit of a benchmark

1:32.0

and we'll start on the offense because it's a lot more fun and it's a lot more the identity

1:36.6

of this team. And I think at 12th, even as good as that may have been a year ago, I think we probably

1:43.9

see that tick up quite a bit.

1:45.8

And in a similar way that I was excited about the prospects of the Miami Dolphins

1:50.8

going from a defensive mind of coach and Brian Flores to an offensive mind of coach

1:56.5

and Mike McDaniel, it's a similar situation here in Minnesota where Mike Zimmer is out and in steps

2:04.3

Kevin O'Connell who comes over from the L.A. Rams. And with O'Connell also comes an offensive

2:11.5

coordinator in West Phillips who was constructing their run game over with the Rams.

2:22.7

So it's a massive shift in mindset, but also offensive play design and play calling quality that's going to elevate this Vikings offense that is loaded with skill position

2:28.7

talent.

2:29.8

The reason that I sort of keyed in on Justin Jefferson and it kind of paints the entire picture
