All weekend long, the headlines out of Minneapolis have captured a moment that is by turns alarming and bizarre.

For instance, in the wake of the killing of Renee Good by immigration enforcement,

protesters have been gathering at a federal building out by the airport in the bitter cold.

Police have greeted them with chemical irritants. Meanwhile, downtown, a pardoned January 6th rioter tried to stage a protest in support of the Trump administration.

But his small group was quickly overwhelmed

and pelted with water balloons.

Locals blasted music from the movie Frozen

and carried signs reading, Ice Out of Minnesota.

Around the time that J-Sixer was getting soaked, the Attorney General of Minnesota logged on for a conversation with me.

So Attorney General Ellison, can you just tell me what the last 24 has been like for you?

It's been chaotic.

It's been a just a rapidly changing set of circumstances.

It is sort of, it's bizarre because the last thing I would expect from the federal government is that they would be

persecuting my state.

Keith Ellison is an interesting guy.

When he was younger, he probably would have been one of the people out on the street protesting.

He represented Minnesota and Congress for a while.

In that role, he was one of the first people to take Donald Trump seriously.

Now, he's dealing with the consequences of Trump's second election.

As we spoke, Ellison was standing in his kitchen, multitasking.
