If you go to the doctor these days, there's a decent chance that AI is going to be a part of your appointment, most likely as a scribe.

If your doctor's ever said to you, like, I'm going to use my phone to take notes or, like, the computer's listening.

Like, I don't have to type anymore. That's what they're using.

The AI is figuring out what happened during the visit and at the end we'll spit out a note for the doctor so the doctor's not constantly typing into the computer during the whole visit.

Which can be pretty annoying.

And if you're thinking, oh, yeah, that sounds familiar.

This tech was indeed a plot line on the pit this week.

physical exam and write it all up in your medical record.

Wow.

But there's another kind of AI, the stuff that powers chat GPT, that is making its way into

health care, due in part to the federal government.

Last summer, at the end of July, Medicare announced this thing that it calls the health tech

ecosystem where they got a bunch of tech

companies both inside of health care and from the regular tech world to promise to put together

among other things patient apps that would let patients get personalized advice from AI about

their health records.

Now we're seeing the fruits of that.

In the past two weeks, both OpenAI and Anthropic have announced chatbots for healthcare, chat GPT Health and Claude for Healthcare.

Today on the show, Silicon Valley wants you to put your medical records and your middle-of-the-night

symptoms into their chatbots.
