| 0:00.0 | Alright welcome to minisode monday. I'm very happy to be here with you kicking off the week with something quick and actionable that you can implement right away. |
| 0:07.0 | It'll make you more magnetic and make you more effective now the other weekend I rewatch the gray movie bridge of spies with tom hangs really really good movie. |
| 0:15.6 | One of the characters is able he's a Soviet spy and he's going through trial and he's facing the death penalty and all the while he remains really stoically kind of weirdly bizarrely calm. |
| 0:25.6 | And at one point Tom hangs character asks him if he's worried at all because able seems to be remarkably calm about the whole thing just no reaction and he rhetorically replies would it help and I love this mindset and able expresses it perfectly worrying never helps. |
| 0:42.6 | Worrying is what we do when there's nothing we really can do and it's counterproductive it causes stress which takes us off our game in tons of other ways it interferes with our performance it interferes with our energy levels and I mean real actual energy not the metaphorical woo woo energy and it interferes with our focus and I'm no stranger to it myself I've often been one to get very worked up over pretty much nothing and the cure for worry is presence focus on the task at hand face forward but don't live in the pretend future. |
| 1:12.6 | Which is what worry really is it's the pretend dystopian future it's a pretend future where the thing you're fearing as the worst is actually reality and I'm not saying that you can't think strategically and plan for a wide range of outcomes but we have to stay emotionally detached from those outcomes if it's causing us problems with what's happening in the present. |
| 1:33.6 | If worrying is stressing about the worst case scenario by assuming that will be the outcome would if we instead assume that the best case scenario and most positive outcome was going to happen that would be amazing of course we need to find a new word for it so this week when you catch yourself worrying assume the most positive outcome instead and right me I'm Jordan at the art of charm dot com tell me about how this shifts your thinking and what the outcomes are for you if worrying is your habit now let's make the opposite of what we're doing. |
