Summary

Welcome to the first episode of Minisode Monday! We keep finding so so many useful tactics and tips that we want to share with you, but they don't fit into the format of a regular show -- hence, Minisode Monday. But don't worry! We'll still present the regular number of full-sized episodes every week, but the schedule will look more like this: Monday -- Minisode Monday Tuesday -- Full-sized episode #1 Wednesday -- Break Thursday -- Full-sized episode #2 Friday -- Fan Mail Friday It's good news; you're getting more in the rotation, and we get to impart something that's maybe five or 10 minutes long -- at most -- that you can apply today. Please let us know what you think in the comments below, at Twitter, or email [email protected]! The Cheat Sheet: We learn manners via parents and society. So when we travel to the other side of the world, what we consider polite may not fly -- and vice versa. Consider the non-verbal cues you get from others when you breach these manners and how this makes you feel. Understand that, no matter how positive of a person you may be, you have negative emotional biases that affect your levels of anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. What are the consequences of letting negative emotional biases take over our lives? How can we address negative emotional biases in a way that keeps us -- instead of our misconceptions -- in control? 0:16.8

on Wednesday and Friday will do fan mail Friday. So basically we're adding to the rotation.

0:21.6

What I wanted to do here is I just found so many different things that are really useful tactics

0:26.5

and little things that we can implement in our daily lives. Then I come across these all the time

0:30.5

and I learn them from other smart people who will also make appearances on some of these

0:34.5

MiniSode Monday episodes. And I thought they just don't fit into regular shows all the time.

0:39.5

Or they're just not big enough topics for regular shows. So here we go with MiniSode Monday

0:44.5

where I get to tell you something that's maybe five or ten minutes long at most that you can apply

0:49.4

today, this week, now and forever, that you can learn really, really quickly. Of course,

0:54.0

when you're done listening, let me know what you guys think about this. I'm Jordan at theartofcharm.com.

I was traveling in Asia recently and what I noticed is that the manners are completely different,

1:06.8

cutting someone off, spitting, eating with your mouth wide open, having food fall out. I mean,

1:12.4

that's probably just bad manners everywhere. But we learn our manners via our parents and from society.

1:17.4

We know when someone gives us a dirty look after we do something that we've done something wrong,

1:22.0

or if someone yells at you like a teacher, colleague, friend, parent, relative, whatever.

1:26.4

But what do we know really? All we can do is assume that that nonverbal feedback actually means

1:32.4

something. This can be kind of a slippery slope and a dangerous one at that. And you've heard me

1:36.4

mention emotional filters and things like that in our YouTube videos and on the show. But
