Summary

Dan and Nick break down the Giants first of two mandatory minicamp practices by looking through some of the key plays and different players who worked with the first team offense and defense. They discuss Parris Campbell’s consistent practice, an interesting battle brewing for the second safety spot, what the depth at wide receiver means and then they focus on why they feel more confident about the Giants’ defensive front – and pass rush in particular. They make the case for why they believe the Giants could be a darkhorse candidate to be the best pass rush in the NFL in 2023 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Welcome back. It's the big blue banter. New York Giants Football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

Joined as always my co-s. Nick Falado. Today we're here to recap the Giants first

mandatory minicap practice. This is one of two. They've got one more and then there is a massive break happening. But we won't talk about Giants football until we'll be talking a lot about it, but we won't see any Giants football on the field until late July. So some things to take away from today's practice we want to discuss today. Some interesting movement as far as which players are starting and working with the first team offense, which players are not, which players are making plays. Remember, we always say, Nick and I, we like to say, take the plays and take the production in these mini camp practices with a grain of salt. Training camp's a little bit better in that regard. But again, not much hitting a lot of seven on seven, but there's still interesting nuggets to take away from who's practicing and playing with the first team offense. So Nick, before we get into any of that, we haven't talked in a while. So how was your weekend, buddy, and are things going well for you? Things are going excellent for me. By the way, it looked like you got some sun this week. Yeah. I've just go outside and I just become really tan, but I haven't really gone to the beach or anything

1:11.2

crazy like that I was in Vegas though but we already talked about that I actually went to the movies

1:15.1

Dan place where you do not get a tan and I saw about my father with Sebastian Manascalco's film with

1:21.3

Robert De Niro and I got to say you know I'm not a big movie guy my girlfriend is I'm not but I enjoyed

1:26.2

it it was a good movie and I talked about my Sic but I, I enjoyed it. It was a good movie, you know, talked about my Sicilian roots, so I enjoyed it. Nice. I had a weekend where I traveled down to Florida to see the Stanley Cup game. Unfortunately, the Panthers lost my, one of my best friends in life, Jordan Kovacs moved down there. He is diehard Panthers fan as die hard as we are about the Giants' crazy extent. And we just unfortunately couldn't get the win. couldn't get the the win I know you were rooting for Vegas earlier in the series and you went to a game in Vegas it's sort of I just want good hockey you just want a good hockey rooting for the home team I think part of the issue for the Panthers is is Kachuk is just not healthy anymore and he's just played like none of the third period which is like a disaster and you can't win without Kachukuk is like That's like if the Giants lost X or Lawrence or Andrew Thomas, you just not going to,

2:04.4

you can't replace that kind of value.

2:05.6

But I did have two first world problem issues.

2:08.4

My flight down to West Palm Beach were 12 minutes away.

2:14.1

It says 12 minutes on duration.

2:15.9

And we hear, oh, there's some thunderstorms in the

2:18.3

area. And you know anyone who lives down there or has lived down there visits there knows.

2:21.8

There's like thunderstorms in the airfly. Okay, it's fine. Pilot goes, don't worry. We're going to

2:25.1

circle around for 15 minutes, maybe 20, and everything's going to be all right. They're not going to last here.

2:30.6

They circle around 35 minutes later. He says, we're running out of fuel. We need to make an

2:34.7

emergency stop in Fort Myers. We're going to fuel right up. And then it's another 25 minutes back to

2:39.7

West Palm. Okay, fine. This is my issue, though, Nick. You can't control the weather. I get it.

2:43.6

And these are all first world problems. I understand. But when we get down and we do the emergency

2:48.5

landing in Fort Myers, we wait another and I counted on my phone. And this wasn't pointed out to me until a lady next to me on the plane made a really good astute point. And I wasn't even angry until she made this point. That's when I got, and I don't say anything. There were so many passengers in that plane who were like yelling at the flight attendants and being so rude and annoying. That's never me. And I people who do that. But in my head and to this lady, because we were just like talking quietly to each other, I did get a little angry with her, not with her with the situation because she was like, here's my point. Why did it? It took 65 minutes from the point where we did our emergency landing to get the fuel over. So why was that fuel tank not waiting for this plane before we landed? We had another like 20 minutes down to Fort Myers or whatever. Get that fuel tank ready. Why does it take 65 minutes get a fuel tank over there? Anyway, double the trip on the way there, on the way back, and then hit another two hour delay going to Newark. So it was just a devastating home in a way I called it, where double delay, almost double

3:42.5

the trip in both ends and just got crushed on both ends. But again, it's a first world problem, like you said. Oh, it's absolutely a first world problem. You should have flew United, you know? Maybe you wouldn't have had those issues. You're damn right. And I normally do. So that might be the last JetBlue flight now. I don't they might be a sponsor at some point jet blue was great besides that they were great
