So eight days ago, my eldest daughter, Ruby, turned at 18, and these last eight days, there's been some bumpy stuff going on.

It's like we're in an asteroid belt, and we're being pouted by some big old rocks at the moment.

There's a lot of, well, I'm an adult now. So you can't tell me what to do.

We had the tattoo last week. She's passed her driving test. She's got her independence. She's got her wheels. She is good to go at the moment. She's primed.

Yesterday, I tried to have a sort of an easy conversation because this weekend, she's got a joint birthday party at a venue

that is not our house. We're not stupid with her best mate. They've got a joint birthday right and I said

look um she doesn't want my wife and I had come along even for a drink right and I said look I've been

asking around so ungrateful by the way but that's just being 18 no right? No, I remember, at my 18th, and I remember.

Did you have your parents there?

Yeah, and all the 18th I went to, I remember the months and dad's been there.

Just for a drink.

I want to stay and, like, you know, throw shade over.

It's just like, it just want to come along for a drink to sort of say happy birthday and we get out of there. I don't think that's too much to us. No, so I say to a hey, listen,

you know, I've been asking around quite a few parents. They just come along for a drink.

She went, oh no, it'd be really odd if you were there. Like, how would it be odd?

Ruby, who is that guy over there? Oh, that's here. Do he get security?

Your father?

Your father's here?

In the building.

Who's a woman with him?

That's my mum.
