The Christian O'Connell Show. Go on. Podcast.

Last year, when the Unthinkable was announced that the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, were actually going to do the unthinkable and having interviewed them both separately so many times over the years. Liam had always been up for a reunion. No was very much never up for it. And a lot of people like, what's brought them back together again? Is it the millions and millions of millions? I'm sure that's factored into it. I don't think it's all about that.

1:28.1

They've been offered so much money to do with Glastonbury, just as a one-off show.

1:32.2

Can you two just be on a same massive stage?

1:35.0

A hundred feet apart at Glastonbury, the pyramid stage is huge.

1:38.4

You didn't have to talk to each other.

1:39.9

You stand there, you stand the other side of the wing.

1:42.1

You weren't like 20 million each.

1:41.4

They still said no to that. I think it's about them getting into their middle of their life. And I think it's their mum who's not been very well, Peggy, who's had too many Christmases where her sons can't bit the table with her. I think it's all of that. And I saw an interview last year where one of their, I think it was Liam's son, said that obviously Liam and Noel have children now

1:43.5

and they're in their 20s, so they're not kids, don't fully understand why their two uncles don't speak to each other. And obviously they've gone online, they've listened to the music, they know this family story. And this happens to families all over the world from like the raw family now fractured and two brothers that can't be together in their 50s. And so, and they said it was started to become really awkward why they're worried about going to talk to each other. Because obviously they got so much to talk about. The dads were in one of the biggest, most important bands in the world. You can't even get to talk to, you know, a family relative like that. It's crazy. And so I think it became a bigger, bigger thing, whereas that really going to be the legacy of Oasis is they were just two brothers that couldn't get back together. So it's an amazing story. And rock and roll has these stories. And when it was announced last year, what was incredible, I never thought I'd ever see Oasis back together. And it was just like, they both were like, it was just like, I couldn't see how it could ever happen.

3:40.8

And then when it was announced, it became this incredible global news event. And over the last couple of years, the biggest demand tickets have been Taylor Swift. And I was over my daughters last year at the MCG, the ERAs tour. And it was incredible. I saw what it did to all the wide-eyed fans that her music really, really speaks to them. It connects them. They're drawn to Taylor Swift. This was me in Oasis when I was in my 20s when I had no money. There were two working-class boys like me from very poor backgrounds. They just lit so many people up. They're about dreaming big. They actually dream big. They made their dream happen and living it large. And that's what you want from your rock stars. Now rock stars don't speak a behavior like that for very good reasons. Okay. But back in the 90s, they were that energy where you could dream big and actually make it happen. There was something very magnetic about Oasis and the way they were.

3:46.1

Haven't seen them live over the years. You know, the live show isn't really about the quality of the music. It's about the connection with the fans. I saw it Taylor Swift, completely different

3:50.7

acts, but the same that wide-eyed, what it's like to have your favorite band that really

3:55.8

just connect you, in ways you don't really fully understand. So what I'm saying is this news that is now only, that last year was next year, they're coming to London, they're coming to Australia, they're coming to Melbourne, getting tickets, trying to get tickets. That now is now next month. They've been rehearsing over the last couple of weeks. I can tell you,

4:14.4

I've got friends who've been to the rehearsals. Liam isn't even there yet. That's so wrong. No one's the grown-ups in the room for a while. First of all, before we bring the old loose cannon in. I reckon he's going to do it like two days before. They go on stage, you know, all right. We've done the hard work, brother.
