to be this nightmare of the video cassette recorder which we don't even have in the house now I said

you know that big old bulky thing where you had to set a timer to turn on to record your

favourite TV show, then turn off at the end of that TV show. And it was fraught with danger

because this was before 24-hour rolling news and sport coverage, where sometimes there'd be a longer

sport or news bulletin. And so suddenly you'd sit down to watch your favorite TV show or you'd have to

record Dallas for your mom.

And all it would have is it have the sport and the news.

And then the first five minutes of opening credits of Dallas and then cut off.

This is my mom.

I'm never found out who shot J.R.

She's still hoping to find out.

Yeah, or even if something, even if her program was meant to start at 830 and start at 835,

it just meant you lost five minutes off the end. So you never really knew the outcome of any show.

So many mysteries are out there right now because of the hell of setting the video timer.
