Everyone has something that happened to them in their life, buried deep down in their hurt lockers.

Often it's something that happened in childhood. No one gets out of childhood unscathed. For me,

what's in my hurt locker? I need to take you back to the 10-year-old Christian O'Connor, right? I loved chess.

Chess was my game. And enthusiastically, I thought that other young boys, my age and girls at my school,

would love to join me in a weekly chess club. I hadn't finished. During the lunch break,

I enthusiastically, enthusiastically put up posters around the school,

come Thursday for the first ever chess club, no one game.

Guess worse. A teacher, you know, there's always a teacher that was on lunch break duty

to take it in turns, walked past and asked me what I was doing still in the class and I said,

haven't you seen the posters?

He'd seen them.

Chess club.

And he went, no one can't win.

Oh.

He sat down and played two super.

He has to.

No, it just doesn't have an happy ending

because the older boys saw this

and were banging on the window

and, you know, saying stuff like loser

and stuff like that.
