Welcome guys and gals to the men talk show. I'm Connor Beaten and today we are to talk about when women make more money than men in the relationship.

0:09.8

Now, this could probably be a pretty charged topic and subject. And it actually came out of a Q&A session. I did it on Instagram this past weekend. I put up a Q&A for the men and women that

0:24.2

follow me on Instagram and I got over 100 responses, over 100 questions from people. And

0:29.4

unfortunately, I couldn't get through all of them. And there's some really good themes. I'm going to

0:33.4

continue to touch on here on the podcast. But one of the major ones that I was surprised by

0:37.5

was the question and the comment around what to do, how to act, is it okay if women make more

0:47.2

money than men in the relationship? And this wasn't just a question from women. It was also a question

0:51.7

for men. And so I thought that I would dig into this.

0:54.9

And so I spent some time over the past couple of days actually digging into the research

0:58.5

behind this to kind of get some data.

1:01.6

And what immediately stood out to me was the fact that 42% of women are the sole or primary

1:08.4

breadwinners bringing in more than half or more than half of the family earnings.

1:14.9

And that, to me, like, I knew that women had made a lot of progress in terms of, you know, finding their footing in terms of equality, in terms of us as a society and culture, creating more space.

1:26.3

But I didn't know that the metric was actually

1:28.3

that high, whether that's just through my own ignorance or naivete.

1:31.8

I just didn't know.

1:33.3

And so that was the first thing that I came across that kind of struck me as interesting

1:37.1

because you probably don't hear this conversation happen as much as I would think should be happening considering that

1:46.5

42% of women are the primary breadwinners and by the way I'm going to use the word the term

1:51.7

breadwinners because in a lot of the data and the research that I did the actual researchers

1:56.5

use the terminology breadwinner to refer to the person or people who are earning the money

2:04.5

within the household.
