I'm going to take a little bit of a different approach and I'm going to start talking about

four archetypes from the book King, lover, warrior, magician. And these four archetypes can be seen

in our culture and through movies, through books, through

the hero's journey, through so many different pieces, but they can also be seen in modern masculinity.

And one of the things that I find very interesting about these four archetypes, well, first off,

rediscovering the archetypes of the mature masculine. And this is something, it was written by

Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette. And this book has actually been out for a few decades. It's not,

it's not new by any means, but it's definitely a prominent one. So if you haven't read it,

I'm going to go through a few of the archetypes. I'm going to go through all the archetypes

individually. This episode will focus specifically on the magician archetype. And in the book,

they actually start with the king archetype, but I'm going to finish with the king

archetype because I think it's one of the most powerful ones, and it's also one of the most

important ones that seems to be lacking in our culture right now. But anyway, these archetypes show up

in a multitude of ways. They are in the book, really, they talk about it being a part of

masculine psyche. They talk about the transition from boy psychology to men's psychology. And it's

really about the initiation, right? The ultimate goal is that we have done the work as men to integrate

these different parts of us and not to sort of

get lost in the idea that we are one only over the other, but that there is a journey for

each of us to start to discover these archetypes and energies within us. But before I dive in
