| 0:00.0 | Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of The Man Talks podcast. This is another check-in episode. |
| 0:05.4 | In this episode, Connor and I have a little discussion about motivation. We had just |
| 0:09.9 | interviewed Dan Ariely, who's an author, but also a very famous behavioral economist. I always |
| 0:17.1 | have a hard time saying that. If you've never heard of him, check out his TED talks. |
| 0:21.3 | They're absolutely incredible. |
| 0:22.3 | He's just written a book called Payoff. |
| 0:24.0 | And we're happy to say that he's going to be on the podcast in a couple weeks from now. |
| 0:27.7 | But we wanted you to hear the conversation we just had because I think there's some good stuff for you in there. |
| 0:32.3 | I really like the idea of understanding what motivates you by understanding what demotivates you. |
| 0:39.8 | Just sort of reverse engineering it yeah i think so many people just like look for what makes them |
| 0:44.5 | like that quick fix and then they they end up getting lost in the spectrum of like doing the things |

And then it, you know, takes the steam out of the end. You're like, if you're trying to stoke the fire, but you're pouring water into it, it's not going to go very well. Can you expand on that a little bit more. I mean, where do you see that showing up in your life? |
| 1:12.6 | Yeah. I mean, I think that there's more and more I see people that are trying to |
| 1:18.7 | work towards goals. Like as we expand men talks around North America and I like meet men and |
| 1:24.4 | women across North America. I see a lot of people saying that they want one thing. |
| 1:29.2 | And so they'll be working towards starting their own business or they'll be working towards, |
| 1:33.8 | you know, saving money or buying a house or getting married, like whatever the case may be. |
| 1:37.4 | And as soon as they start getting momentum, there'll be like these self-sabotage mechanisms |
| 1:43.5 | that will start to jump in |
| 1:44.7 | that like end up demotivating them. And the reason why I started to see this for myself is like I |
| 1:51.8 | definitely in the past have gone about like how can I motivate myself the most and trying to like |
| 1:58.2 | set up my days, you know, with like morning routines and, you know, |
