Summary

We all get bad reviews from time to time. People give us feedback, don't like what we have to say, disagree with our opinion and are disappointed in what we are doing. In this mini episode, I share my first One star review from the show and the 3 major lessons on how to use negative feedback to pursue your dreams. Welcome, guys and gals, the Man Talks show. I'm Connor Beaton, the host and founder of Man Talks.

0:04.8

And on this week's midweek mini episode, we are going to look at the one star reviews, lessons from one star reviews.

0:12.7

Now, I wanted to do this little insight. I want to do this little episode because I think so frequently we talk about our successes in business. We talk about our

0:23.2

successes in life. And while we do sometimes share our lessons from failures, it's less seldom

0:32.5

for us to actually take a more scrutinizing look at how we can improve. So I just want to share

0:38.9

one review with you. I think I searched through my reviews on iTunes and I could only find

0:45.0

one comment that was a one-star review. And this is from February 22nd, 2019. So it's a recent one.

0:52.9

And it's from Speed 1955. So speed 1955 I don't think you're listening

0:57.2

anymore but if you are thanks for the review he says or he or she says get a thesaurus

1:04.2

that's the title could someone please get this guy at thesaurus he uses the word often and

1:09.3

oftentimes at least 25 times per episode,

1:12.4

and it's often very distracting, hard to listen to the content because of the overuse of those

1:18.2

words. Great. Love this. Okay, here's the deal. I appreciate this feedback. I think this is

1:25.0

very valid feedback. And I think that when we get into

1:31.1

putting ourselves out in the public, we very much want to be honed. We want to be perfect.

1:38.7

I have people who reach out to me all the time who say, how do I get started? Can you give me

1:42.8

some advice on starting my podcast? Can you give me some advice on starting my podcast?

1:44.7

Can you give me some advice on, you know, doing Instagram videos? You seem natural with it.

1:49.5

And the reality is, is that it's not, it's not usually a natural thing. That's just the truth.

1:56.5

It has taken time and effort and energy and practice to cultivate skills into becoming a better

2:04.4

interviewer, becoming a better listener so that when I have guests on the show, I'm listening

2:08.8

to what they're putting out so I can dig deeper so that I know what questions to ask.
