The Traditionally as we've seen so far body horror has been pretty male-centric or at least

told through a male lens whether it's Eli Roth'sel or David Cronenberg's The Fly. But throughout the 21st century,

there have been films from new, interesting voices that look at body horror through a female lens like ginger snaps or American Mary. The two films we're discussing this week, one from 2007, the other from 2016.

Both put female bodies front and center in gruesome and hilariously nasty stories, one of which

was considered so shocking, festival audience members were literally taken ill and had to be carried out by paramedics.
