I'm Mary Meckley and I welcome you to day six of this week's very special series

where you are exploring the Pythagorean path, a seven-day journey to harmony.

And today, you're going to explore mind-body harmony as you take part in some of the rituals that Pythagoras shared at his school.

He had a school to help people live a more virtuous life, and that included discipline,

not only of your body, but also of your mind.

Pythagoras was a remarkable mathematician.

He believed that numbers created reality.

So today you'll also be focusing on a number. In fact, the number I encourage

you to reflect on as you're guided with insight and then your meditation for today is the number six.

It is day six, so I thought I would share with you number six.

And here's what Pythagorean philosophy shares about the number six.

It holds several meanings, including being the first perfect number and representing

the balance between the earthly and spiritual realms. It's associated with harmony, love, and the

nurturing aspects of life. Essentially, six is seen as a number that embodies both mathematical perfection and the qualities of compassion and balance in the universe.

As more of your insight today about the Pythagorean School, the training emphasized balance in mind

and embody disciplining the body advocated for a simple lifestyle that was characterized by

moderation and eating, drinking, and other physical pleasures. It wasn't about a type of harsh self-denial, but about avoiding excesses that could cloud the mind and disrupt inner harmony.

Also, there was a lot of emphasis on physical exercise, especially dance. So they did running, walking, and wrestling was popular.

But dance was seen as a way to harmonize the body and soul as it combined physical movement with rhythm and music.
