because we had a round table today with Mike Schmitz and talked to us about a bunch of different things, a bunch of different topics.

And we'll talk about what we get wrong about the front office, which I found interesting, how he evaluates players, which are found fascinating, what he thinks about bigs and guards and all kinds of different things.

And my big takeaway from this conversation we got to have with Mike Schmitz is that he

was very clear that the Mavs don't want to skip steps.

He said that multiple times in this talk.

And Masai Jiri talked about the process of creating sustainable success.

And I think every GM and every front office member thinks about this. And they don't want to be like, hey, we're kind of, we want to be a flash in the pan and just win next year. And that's it. However, we did just exit a period where the GM did come up and say, hey, we have this three-year window that we want to try to win in, and that's it.

And then after that, I don't even know what my job is going to be, which is probably that is more of a unique experience than what we're having right now with Mike Schmitz and Masay Jiri. But we saw how that worked out with the pass regime. And so now the Mavs have Maasai as the team president,

Mike Schmitz is the GM,

and for them to not skip steps,

I think they don't want to make some kind of short-sighted move to say, all right now. Let's go all in and leverage the future for right now.

They see Cooper Flag as the number one option for this Mavericks team. They see him as the generational talent that he is and they want to build sustainable success around

him evaluating the right players in the draft finding the right players to you know to play to play

and be next to be next to him for a long time and not just you know a short good time and so i think
