In the wake of Donald Trump's criminal conviction, House Republicans are ramping up their efforts to use the legislative process to try to

shield him from other ongoing criminal prosecutions. These efforts are taking many forms, and they all

seem to have the support of Speaker Mike Johnson, which actually gives Democrats an opening,

to go on offense against the GOP by hammering Republicans for aiding

and abetting Trump's nonstop quest to place himself above accountability in the law.

Yet some Dems seem reluctant to engage this fight directly.

One Democrat who is not reluctant to take on this battle is California Congressman Eric Swalwell.
