1:13.8	decided against inviting Kenyan President William Ruto to speak to a joint meeting of Congress
1:19.5	during his state visit to Washington later this month. Ruto would be the first Kenyan leader to ever

1:27.8	African leader to do so since the Liberian president spoke in the House chamber in 2006.
1:34.3	This is a joint meeting, not a joint session. Bres kept reminding me, I keep screwing this up.

1:44.3	Ruto was elected in 2022 and he'll be in D.C. for a state visit to mark the 60th anniversary

1:57.6	two lawmakers in the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCall, excuse me, and Gregory Meeks, Greg Meeks,
2:04.4	who urged Johnson on April 30th to extend an invitation for Ruto to address a joint meeting.
2:11.5	This is an invitation, according to McCall and Meeks, that would underscore the importance of the U.S.-Kenya relationship and send a valuable signal to the people of Africa.
