You had some

information last night regarding the severity of Hayward's injury. What are you hearing now?

Well, I haven't heard anything new this morning. My information last night was off the initial

examination that the Cleveland doctors and the Boston medical people had with him. And in that

sense, the news was encouraging and that the

preliminary prognosis was that there was no ligament damage and no blood vessel damage and that

the brake slash fracture was clean was the word they kept using. So all in all, when I ran this

by another orthopedic guy, he said that's the best of all possible scenarios for what is obviously a very nasty injury.

And you had a doctor on last night who said that this is something that realistically, I guess best case scenario, if everything went well with the surgery, that he could possibly be back when?

Yeah, mid to late March he thought he could be back, you know, back when? March. March. Yeah, mid to late March, he thought he could be back,

you know, which would be great for Gordon, and obviously we all want to see him recover quickly

and have the best possible scenario. After the South expend, three quarters of the season,

though, trying to get together and play as a unit, you would be introducing a key part of the unit

again two weeks,

three weeks before the playoffs.

But let's hope that's an issue the Celtics have to deal with and that he has backed that

quickly.
