off the back from last week's interview with John Hare from Sensible Software, I'm going to bring

you a very, very special interview with Richard Garriott.

Now, for those we've been living under a rock all this time, Richard Garriott released his first

game 30 years ago. And since then, he's gone to do all of the Ultima games. He did Auto Jewel.

And most recently, he was also the executive producer on City of Hero, City of Villains and Tabula Rosa.

So why don't you kick back, relax and find out Austin, Texas. Good morning, Richard. Good morning. Great to be with you this morning. Pleasure is all ours, I assure you. So, first question, I need to get this off my chest very quickly. It's a question that we ask anybody that we speak to a midlife gamer, and it's something which our community members are very keen to know about everybody we speak to.

And that would be, what is your favorite biscuit and beverage?

Well, maybe cookie, if you were American, I guess would be.

You know, it's funny because the last time I was England, I was introduced to these jammies, I think they were called,

but I had not before seen those here in the United States. You know, but here, for a commercially available cookie or biscuit, you know, that's hard to say.

I'm a big chocolate chip fan and probably the kebler guys do some mighty good chips, or biscuits or however you might call them over there.

And for a beverage, you know, I'm, if you mean in a traditional beverage, you know, not an alcoholic beverage.

You know, what I actually drink the most is Diet Coke.

But I don't know if that answered your question or not.

It certainly did.

Was it a jammy dodger maybe you were thinking? That was it. Jammy Dodgers. That's what they introduced me to. Exactly. So I was told this was a particular English delicacy that they were quite tasty, but it was a bit unfamiliar to me. Okay. Do you mind actually if we step back to, well, I guess to your child, I mean, you were born in Cambridge, England?

That's correct.

And how old were you when you moved over with your family to, over to Austin?

Well, my reason for being born in England was that my father was on a one-year sabbatical. He had been a

professor at Stanford University and went to Cambridge for a year. And so I was actually born only
