A new study found that microplastic particles make their way to the male penis and are linked with erectile dysfunction.

This is a very disturbing study because many people still consume water out of plastic bottles,

0:11.0

consume ultra-processed package food that are wrapped in the very plastics that have recently been detected in human penile tissue.

Now, what was unique about this study is six subjects underwent a prosthesis for their

0:23.8

erectile dysfunction. The ages of the six subjects range between 46 years old

0:28.2

up to 81 years old. Now while they were under the knife undergoing this

0:32.0

prosthesis to supposedly enhance their ability to maintain an erection, the investigators thought, well, why don't we take some tissues from the penile tissue and see if there are detectable levels,

0:45.7

quantitatively and qualitative analysis was done to detect the presence of

0:50.8

microplastic particles. Now there were six primary microplastic

0:55.0

particles detected polystyrene, polyethylene chloride, PVC, polymethylaculate

1:00.0

which I don't really know where that is derived from and polyethylene triturptylene

1:04.6

there's a lot of these different compounds but mostly thallates and polypropylene and

1:08.8

polyethylene were the most prevalent detected microplastic particles that are less than 100 micrometers in their

1:16.8

size. Now that's what's really interesting about this is over the past 15 years there's

1:20.9

been this argument that these microplastics from disposable

1:23.8

coffee cups plastic water bottles as well as single-use plastic like fast food

1:28.9

wrappings and processed food containers and so forth These are too small to really be significant in terms of their health ramifications,

1:37.0

but as this study and recently published studies found,

1:40.0

we reviewed this in March of this year. The New England Journal of Medicine article found

1:44.0

the presence of microplastic particles and thalates in the crotted artery plaque.

1:50.0

These were individuals that were again undergoing a routine procedure to

de plaque if you will the cornered artery and as part of the study
