After right-to-work laws pass in Michigan, what's next for organized labor?

I'm Sarah Terry sitting in for Warren Alley, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International, a daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

On Tuesday, Michigan became the 24th state to pass right-to-work laws, which prevent unions from compelling workers to pay union dues.

It's a big hit to organize labor, which historically has had a stronghold in Michigan, the birthplace of the United Auto Workers Union.

Advocates say that right-to-work laws stimulate economic growth,

but opponents argue they undercut pay for middle-class workers.

What role did politics play in Michigan?
