In 1980, the book Michelle remembers burst onto the scene, promoted with articles in People magazine and the National Enquirer.

Pazder and Smith also toured the United States to promote the book.

The book was 372 pages and included a few

black and white photographs, which allegedly show a mark left on Smith's arm that supposedly

appeared after she remembered Satan touched her, and the face of Satan appearing in smoke,

which is, if you look at it, a bit of a stretch. That being said, the book was a gigantic success,

earning Pazder and Smith a $100,000 hardcover advance, $242,000 for paperback rights,

royalties, and even a potential movie deal. It became this cultural moment in Canadian history,

and even now as recounted by Canadian

youth as a significant moment in time.

But the validation didn't end there.
