If you saw the movie Zebrahead in 1993, you think the character played by Michael

Rappaport were going to make a documentary about the Tribe Call Quest. That character didn't,

but actor Michael Rappaport did. He directed the film Beach Rhymed in Life, which is not only the name of

the fourth tribe album, it's the name of his movie as well. Michael, first of all, thanks so much for being here. Thanks for having me. And it's funny because we talk about this.

92 was a big year for sort of like hip-hop film.

There was zebra head.

Right.

There was juice.

Right.

And I just remember thinking that you were part of that generation of actors,

I'm sure you talked about this before,

that first generation of actors who really absorbed hip hop in the way they talked. Right. You know what I mean?

You were just emulating.

You really were feeling it.

Absolutely.

Absolutely.

Yeah, that's a good point.

Yeah, because I grew up, you know, loving hip hop as a lot of people did.

And I grew up in New York City in the 80s.
