Authorities say a suspect is dead after ramming their vehicle into a synagogue in the Detroit area earlier today.

A law enforcement official says the suspect went into Temple Israel with a rifle.

Authorities say security saw him in open fire and that no one else is

seriously hurt. CNN's Jason Kirill has more.

We're hearing that the suspect's body found there in the vehicle is so badly damaged.

Making an ID initially might prove to be difficult. Going forward, the investigation is going to be focused on,

did this suspect act alone?

Did this suspect act with others?

Multiple law enforcement officials briefed on the scene

say emergency responders found but appear to be a large amount of explosives

in the back of the vehicle.

Authorities say extra law enforcement is being added around other Jewish spaces in the area and more places of worship.

Meanwhile in Virginia, another shooting is being investigated as a terror-related attack.

A suspect is dead after a shooting inside an academic building at Old Dominion University this morning.

That's according to the school's police chief, who says one person is dead and two others injured.

Multiple law enforcement officials say the suspect was a former Army National Guard member

who was previously jailed for attempting to support an Islamic terror group.
