Summary

Welcome to the Multi-FAMILY zone podcast, where business meets family. The hosts of the show, Julia and Gino Barbaro, have been married for over twenty years, and have six children.    Julia homeschools the children, and recently became a marriage and life coach to help couples become better communicators and help enrich their lives.  The couple is constantly asked about how they balance their entrepreneurial and real estate journey while raising their kids. The Multi-FAMILY zone was created to address these questions, along with a host of questions from the Jake and Gino community.   During these trying times, the fixed mindset is exposed, and many people revert to casting blame and judging others. Julia & Gino discuss the difference between a fixed mindset, one that casts blame and judgment, versus a growth mindset, one that is focused on growth, hard work, and seeking solutions.   Gino shares his story of selling the restaurant, and how fortunate he was to exit before the pandemic hit. He has empathy for all the small business owners who are clamoring to reopen the economy, fearful that they will lose everything that they have worked so hard for. On the other hand, he also empathizes for all of those who have fear for the virus and want to continue to lock down the economy.   In life, those with a growth mindset will lead a more fulfilling life, and will continue to challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone.   Solutions will only be created by utilizing the growth mindset!   Questions or comments? Hi, Julia. How you doing? Hey, Gino, I'm doing good. What are we talking about today?

0:26.9

Well, you know, it's funny because when we were talking about what was going to be the topic,

0:31.5

somehow it was going on where a lot of judging was going around, especially online in the media, judging. And that's what I kind of

0:39.9

want to talk about. What about if I don't want to talk about that? I guess we're stuck.

0:46.4

Actually, hold on, time out. We're talking about the judging. And then you came and said,

0:51.0

hey, let's talk about judging. So the reason why judging to me is really important, it's because I've been doing a lot of work on mindset.

1:00.0

I'm doing a lot of work on neuroscience of the brain.

1:02.8

I'm trying to figure out why people do certain things.

1:05.5

And then, you know, through this whole pandemic, I've been online.

1:09.5

And every time I'm online, it's so toxic.

1:12.4

Everyone's judging everyone else.

1:14.2

We don't even know what a person should be a situation is.

1:17.9

And from a fixed mindset and a growth mindset, when you're being judgmental, a fixed mindset tends to be judgmental.

1:25.5

It's not open.

1:26.9

It's not empathetic. You're not thinking about the other

side. And I'll give you a quick example of how judgment can really work against you. I read this,

1:35.7

I think, in Stephen Covey's book, there's a story about a man. He was on a train. He had a bunch of

kids with him. I think actually he had six kids with him on the train.
