The longer you run, the more races you train for, the more you'll appreciate the importance of a good training schedule, one that keeps you healthy while preparing you for your goal race. That's so critical to your success. In this episode,

throughout some quotes. You know how I love quotes about how important it is to plan.

So here's the first one. Failing to plan is planning to fail. So there

you have your motivation for using a training plan. But which one? When you search for a schedule,

there are plenty online. You can just Google half marathon training schedule or 5K training schedule

or whatever and you'll find many options various websites

offer free ones magazines like women's running or runners world and others and nowadays when you

register for a race there's often a way to sign up for an online training program either

free or paid through the race's website that prepares

you for the race on that day. You can also use one of Hal Higden's schedules. Now, if you haven't

heard of Hal Higden, his schedules are extremely famous. He's a coach that's been around forever

and ever. His name is spelled Hal, H-A-L, andA-L and H-I-G-D-O-N.

And there's certainly, they've stood the test of time. I used his schedule to train for my first

half marathon. They're quite traditional in design, but they're also very effective. And the nice thing

is that there are many levels.

For example, there's a novice one, novice two, intermediate one, and intermediate two, advanced,

supreme, personal best, and several others for unique situations, like, for example, for trying
