Summary

One of my favorite quotes is the simple cliche, "Everything is relative." I express it often because it has such a profound effect on virtually everything, and remembering it, keeping it in mind, has the potential to massively impact our perspective on everything from miles we run to all the rest of our lives. Runners […]

Hi, this is Debbie Boyle's coach at Mojo for Running with podcast number 107.

0:12.4

Reality check.

0:14.1

Only four miles?

0:16.3

Have you ever said that?

0:17.9

I only did four miles today or I just did three or only six? Most people

0:24.0

have. Heck, I have. As experienced runners, it's so easy to lose sight of reality, to undervalue

0:31.1

our efforts. You know, what we say is what we're thinking. It can reveal a problem with our perspective on our training,

0:39.2

and it's my goal today to get you to see every day's training from a more objective point of

1:32.0

I only have one rule at these runs. You can never use the word just or only in the same sentence

1:39.7

with the number of miles you ran, because no matter how many miles you run today, you will have run farther than 99.9% of the

1:48.9

population, most of whom were either still asleep or sitting on the couch while you were running.

1:56.0

It's funny because over the years, there were times, there there are times when I actually accidentally slip

2:04.1

and do it myself I'll say I only did some number of miles and it never fails someone in my

2:11.6

group says to me Deb I can't believe you said only that makes me smile because it means they've been listening

2:19.0

and they remembered. The thing is, and this is what happened to me personally on those occasions,
