0:10.0	If metaphysics, as we have been discussing it, is about the nature of what is,
0:16.0	then you might think the goodness is not a topic in metaphysics,
0:21.6	but instead a topic in ethics or morality.

1:00.0	From the Thomistic perspective, that objection would be based on a serious mistake. Goodness is a central topic in metaphysics, and morality is, in fact, based on metaphysics.
1:07.0	That's because the question of the way things are and the way things should be can't really be separated.
1:14.9	The way things should be belongs to what they are.
1:19.7	The topics to be covered in this lecture are these.
1:24.5	First, is the distinction between good and bad objective, or instead is it just a matter of our subjective preferences?
1:34.5	Second, are goodness and badness two different kinds of beings, two different properties, or is that just altogether the wrong way to think about it?
