Summary

There are a lot of misconceptions on the subject of angels. Many picture them as little chubby cherubs playing their harps in the clouds, but that could not be further from the truth. The Bible has a lot to say about this supporting cast of characters and their role in human affairs. In today’s study, Pastor Austin addresses questions such as, “What are angels?” “What do angels look like?” “What do they do?” “Do they have bodies?” “Are there different kinds and ranks of angels?” and many more.

Why is it important for us to study or to learn more about angels?

0:06.8

As we make our way through, I'm going to have a good amount of slides.

0:12.3

Again, this may be more informational than inspirational,

0:15.3

but I do trust that even as we kind of potentially overwhelm ourselves with the information of God's

0:22.9

word, that he will still speak to your hearts. And so kind of the first question I want to address

0:28.2

tonight with us is why is it important for us as the church to even look into these things

0:35.3

pertaining to the subject of angels? I have a few points for us.

0:39.0

The very first thing is that angels remind us the unseen world is real.

0:45.4

Angels remind us that the unseen world is real.

In the book of Acts, in Acts 23 it is, the Sadducees, they were a religious sect there in Jesus' day. The Pharisees and the

Sadducees, many of you are familiar with those two different religious sects in Jesus' time.

1:06.5

The Sadducees were a religious sect who did not believe in angels. They did not believe in angels. They did not believe in spirits. They did not believe that there was going to be a resurrection. Why? Because they, there was so much in the spiritual realm that obviously we cannot see. And so the Sadducees were very sad you see. That's kind of the joke there because they couldn't see the angels

1:29.6

or the spiritual realm. And so they had a lack of belief in those things pertaining to the resurrection

1:35.9

even of the dead. Now the Pharisees, they did believe in those things. They believed in angels.

1:41.5

They believed that there was going to be a resurrection from the dead. And so many people in our day, because they can't see something, then they don't believe that it

1:52.5

truly exists. But the Bible is clear that there is a spiritual realm. And this is kind of Bible 101,

2:00.6

but it's good for us to kind of remind

2:02.1

ourselves of this reality. We live in the material realm. We live in the physical realm where you can

2:07.8

taste, see, and feel. But the Bible is clear that there is more to our reality than just the

2:15.6

material. There is the spiritual realm, the Bible says, where God resides,

2:22.6

where angels reside, where the spiritual forces of wickedness also reside. Again, this is called

2:29.0

the spiritual realm. And within the spiritual realm, the Bible is clear also that there are two
