When I was in high school, I went to the Philippines for the first time.

While at the terminal on a layover, it was just me and my cousin in the boarding area

watching the bags while everyone else got food.

My cousin turned to me and started telling me this really long and wild story

she learned in one of her classes about this guy who had a half sibling

and everyone else knew except for him.

Isn't that crazy?

She said that none of his family told him.

I mean, if it were me, I would want to know.

What about you?

Would you want your family to tell you?

And I thought about it for a moment before confidently saying,

no, I know that I wouldn't make the effort to find them and form a relationship with them.

I'd rather just not know they existed.
