I guess the point with mental health is that unfortunately every family has some connection to somebody with mental health difficulties.

In the last few months, unfortunately, my family has and I've had to try and navigate the whole NHS system to try and get help for somebody in the family and the

help that we've got at the end of that whole process seems to be pretty good, but I was just astounded by how difficult it was to actually

get the help in the first place. And in today's episode, I'm going to talk to Georgia, who's one of our producers.

Because this navigating the NHS system, the mental health system in this country is something

that you and I have talked about over the weeks.

I'm almost getting tears in my eyes just talking about this because it has been so difficult

but the reason that we're doing this episode is because of a particular problem that you've discovered involving young people and the care they get

from the mental health services and what happens when they become adults?

So I actually came across this story a few years ago.

I really wanted to be a journalist.

I set up my own blog and I was really passionate about mental health.

I wanted to write about that on the blog and I was really passionate about mental health so I wanted to write about that on the

blog and I reached out to people and I said you know if you've got any suggestions for

topics that I can write about getting contact and a woman contacted me and said you should

definitely write about the issues with

transitioning from child to adult services. So I put out this post and a lot of people

reacted to it and got in contact with me and I was actually quite

shocked by how many people this issue affects. This is Beyond Today from BBC
